SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (Good Things Utah) – Today in the studio we were joined by Grace Bohn and Laila Deranieri from People Helping People Utah. This local non-profit assists single mothers and low income women in Utah, with their upcoming semi annual job fair and seminar on Sept. 30.
People Helping People aims to provide long term employment support for both low income women and single mothers. Helping women to develop confidence and overcome professional barriers in the work force. This free program helps those without traditional experience with resources like resume workshops and interview preparation.
Laila Deranieri shared her personal story with how the non-profit provided her with guidance on earning a higher income after her divorce.
“They gave me a lot of confidence in my self,” said Deranieri. “[Even though] I’ve had jobs and a career path it kind of changed… they really helped me find that guidance to move forward and know the next steps.”
The single mothers job fair and seminar is from 5-7 p.m. at the Sorensen Unity Center. It is free and open to the public of those 18 years and older. The event will have community resources, chances to meet future employers and an opportunity drawing for a chance to win an iPad.
A bonus job-ready virtual seminar is also available discussing communication and visibility in the work place from 12-1 p.m.. For the event, make sure you register beforehand here."
