Our goal at People Helping People (PHP) is to reduce the number of children living in poverty by teaching low-income women, primarily single moms, how to become and remain successfully employed.
Women seeking our services typically want a better quality of life, but lack the training, confidence and positive work experience necessary to obtain and maintain employment. PHP’s Employment Program gives women the knowledge, tools, confidence and encouragement to achieve their full potential in the workplace.
Our long-term, one-on-one approach teaches women how to get a good job, perform well in a job, seek and receive pay raises and promotions, and nurtures them through this challenging time.
We believe that the only permanent route out of poverty is an adequate income; that a good job, with a good company and long-term employment support can go a long way in helping single moms become financially self-sufficient.
Our Employment Program, through the work of dedicated volunteers and staff, is committed to creating an environment where the single moms we serve can and will flourish both in their careers and in life.
We believe that when moms do better, kids do better.
When kids do better, communities do better,
and when communities do better, we all do better.

Successful Employment Matters...
When women can
find good jobs, work for good companies,
and stay employed in positions where they can
earn enough to pay their bills,
their housing situation will stabilize,
they can feed and clothe their children,
afford better childcare, and
gain access to healthcare for themselves and
their families through their employers.
They can also participate in company offered training and education reimbursement programs, without going into debt, that will help them gain the necessary skills to become more valuable to their employer.
Once women have an employment plan and ongoing long-term employment support, they can stay employed, advance in their job, earn a higher wage and provide for their families for many years.
Each single mom or low-income woman we
help transition from welfare to work saves our
community from $5,000 to $20,000 annually.
