Mentoring is the cornerstone of the PHP Successful Employment Program (SEP).  According to David Brooks of the New York Times, “The only [programs] that work are local, human-to-human immersions that transform the students down to their very beings.”

PHP volunteer mentors work one on one with women to help them adopt the changes in attitude and develop the professionalism to succeed in the workplace. Only when a woman feel confident can she succeed in her employment.

PHP mentors serve as role models, confidence builders and sources of encouragement. The client-mentor relationship is one of the most effective tools in the SEP.

Mentors also learn valuable new skills through the SEP.  Many of our mentors have learned negotiation skills and have obtained raises and promotions themselves as a result of what they learned along with their client in the program.

If you are interested in learning more about becoming a mentor, please call us. We are happy to answer your questions. We also offer a mentoring monthly overview (please see the calendar).
